Choosing a bulk soil delivery method is really a question about your site, not about the soil itself. The blend you order determines what grows; the delivery method determines whether the material lands where your crew can actually use it. Matching the Truck to the Site

Dump truck delivery is the simplest and most cost-effective choice when conditions are right. It's ideal for open sites with firm ground, plenty of overhead space, and enough room for the truck to lift and tip the load in one spot. This works well for new builds before landscaping, farm yards, large residential lots, and staging areas on commercial sites. The main consideration is placement: the load drops in a single pile, so the site should be accessible enough for your crew to work efficiently without having to move material multiple times.

Push-out trucks address a different need. Our tri-axle push-out trucks can carry between 40 to 65 cubic yards in one load and discharge the material horizontally rather than tipping it out. This means the truck’s box never has to lift, which is important on sites with low-hanging branches, power lines, canopies, or soft ground where a raised dump body could be risky. The horizontal push also allows for more precise placement, so the material can be spread along a length instead of just dumped in a big pile. For large projects, the advantage is the amount of material per trip, fewer loads mean lower costs and less traffic in and out of the site.

Bulk bags shift the calculation again. Each bag holds one cubic yard and is set by crane exactly where you want it, which suits properties where a loose pile is not workable. Occupied strata complexes, courtyards, rooftop terraces, tight residential lots and phased jobs are common examples. Bags keep the material contained, keep driveways and parking areas clean, and let a crew open one at a time as the work progresses rather than racing to move a pile before rain arrives.

Blower installation is the answer when the placement point is somewhere a truck simply cannot reach. Our blower service applies soil precisely on slopes, rooftops, planting beds, medians and large open areas, at uniform depth, without wheelbarrows or site damage. It is its own service rather than a delivery add-on, and it is often the deciding factor on sites where hand spreading would cost more in labour than the material itself.

Reading Your Site Before You Order

Most of the decision comes down to a short list of site conditions worth checking before you call:

• Access width, gate clearance and turning room for a loaded truck

• Overhead obstructions such as wires, branches or building overhangs

• Ground bearing capacity, particularly through the wet months in the Lower Mainland

• Distance from the drop point to where the soil is actually being placed

• Whether the property stays in use during the work

This last point leads to more options than expected. Placement precision is more important than the lowest freight cost on a school site, strata property, or commercial site that cannot be closed. This is because each metre a crew must move by hand represents time spent at a site that is still in use. A dump truck is the best option for an empty lot that has easy access.

Access is important, but so is volume. One cubic yard of soil covers approximately 100 square feet when used to a depth of 3 inches. A mid-sized landscaping project can quickly become a truckload. Bulk soil delivery is more economical than bagged products when you order 10 cubic yards. Once you have your yardage, it is easy to narrow down the options: small volumes are best served by bulk bags; large areas require dump trucks or push-out trucks; and difficult terrain requires blower installation.

That consistency matters when a method is chosen for placement reasons, because blown or bagged material still has to perform the same way as a bulk drop.
